The Story Of Mr. Potato Head

Like a young child who has found a new exciting plaything, this article about the story of Mr. Potato Head will introduce a whole new world of awe and wonder for you.

It’s often said that the potato is the most versatile of foods. Thanks to an invention in the late 1940s, it’s also possible to play with a potato! Mr Potato Head has delighted children since it first came on the market in 1952. Hasbro manufactures it and they saw the commercial potential of the unusual toy straight away. It was the first toy to be advertised on national television.

Children love to add the attachable mustache, hat, nose and other accessories to the potato body, bringing him to life. These parts were increased in size in 1973 due to concerns over safety for young children. Mr Potato Head is not alone; he has a family consisting of Mrs Potato Head, Brother Spud and Sister Yam.

The lovable toy has appeared in comic strips and in movies and TV. This has certainly helped to sustain the toy’s popularity over the years, especially in today’s age of electronic gadgetry. He was first seen on a television show in 1985 when he appeared in Potato Head Kids. A brief show in the 1990s was shown on the Fox network, called The Mr Potato Head Show.

The toy’s most famous incarnation is in the movie, Toy Story and its sequel. Don Rickles voiced the character, expertly bringing his personality to life. The story is a smart commentary on the real life situation of traditional toys having to compete with the new kid on the block, in this case, Buzz Lightyear. Our beloved potato more than holds his own in all the adventures.

Hasbro is always looking to new ideas and they brought in a new range of accessories in 2006, that can be sold separately to the Mr Potato Head body. Children can interchange the toy with different themes such as mermaid, pirate, construction worker and Santa Claus.

The manufacturers marked the 50th Anniversary of the toy in an unusual way. Hasbro, based in Rhode Island, issued vehicle license plates with the Potato Head logo for the Rhode Island area. A percentage of the proceeds went to a local food bank, the humble potato contributing to the battle against hunger. Who knows what the little guy will do next?

If you have always wanted to know more about Little House On The Prairie, then get ready because we have all the information you can handle.

In college, we were told that cable would expand to include more than two hundred channels in the very near future. My teacher must have known what he was talking about, because it happened not long after he made his prediction. There are so many channels now that it is still sometimes impossible to find something really good. Sometimes, there are many good things, and you have to choose. This is much different from when I was growing up, and you knew when your favorites were on, and you made a date to watch them. One that I loved was Little House On the Prairie.

The show Little House on the Prairie is very old fashioned by today’s terms, but it was always a great show that had a very human touch to it. So many things that are on today have so much fantasy that you can’t relate. While l loved the show Friends while it was on, there were many things about it that were not very realistic. Little House on the Prairie, however, was something that always seemed to be real, even if some didn’t like the tone of the show.

What an exciting way to begin this article, now let us take a look at what else we can learn about this topic!

I don’t remember when Little House on the Prairie was on its first run, and for all I know I was watching reruns when I was young. I do remember I fondly though, and for a little girl, it was a great show about exploring the more simple things in life, and about human relationships in a world that does not seem to exist any longer. I haven’t seen the show on television for a very long time, but I suspect that it might be on somewhere sometime.

If you are looking for Little House on the Prairie, and you can’t seem to find it on television, you can buy it on DVD to share with your family. Children may be dazzled by flashy cartoons and the other shows of today, but there is something about that show that will touch almost anyone who takes the time to view it. The good values in that show are something that are hard to find today, and giving your children that point of view can only help them be better people in the end. I don’t know if watching that show changed who I would become, but I can’t think that if it did that this would be a bad thing.

As they say, knowledge equals power, so continue to read information about Little House On The Prairie until you feel you are adequately educated on the subject. You can find more on the topic on the internet.
